If you've ever visited the site, you know that Reddit is a treasure trove of information, discussions, entertainment, and memes. With countless subreddits covering virtually every topic imaginable, Reddit offers a wealth of knowledge and a tight-knit community.
However, keeping track of all your favorite subreddits can be overwhelming. The sheer volume of content can make it difficult to stay updated on the discussions that matter most to you.
By creating an RSS feed for Reddit, you can streamline the process and receive updates directly to your RSS reader or email, making it easier to manage the content you love.
In this article, we'll go over the steps you can take to create your own RSS feed with the help of IFTTT. Our free automation system does the heavy lifting behind the scenes, allowing you to set up an RSS feed with zero technical background needed. Fortunately, Reddit makes it incredibly easy to get started with an RSS feed, so there's no reason why you shouldn't give it a try! Let's jump right in.
Benefits of using a Reddit RSS feed
There are many benefits to using a Reddit RSS feed, and many people look to these feeds every day to get personalized content. Here are three reasons why using a Reddit RSS Feed beats simply using the app itself:
Efficiency: Get all your updates in one place without the need to visit each subreddit. This approach reduces the time and effort required to stay informed, allowing you to focus on engaging with the content rather than searching for it.
Customization: With an RSS feed, you can choose which subreddits you want to include in your feed. This level of control ensures that you only receive updates on topics that interest you, eliminating all the unnecessary clutter.
Convenience: Access your feeds from any RSS aggregator or email service. Whether you're on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone, your RSS feed is always within reach, providing you with the flexibility to stay connected to your favorite subreddits wherever you are.
Setting up your Reddit RSS feed with IFTTT
With IFTTT, you have two options. You can browse our library of millions of user-made Applets (feeds already set up by the community) or create your own in just a few minutes with our Applet builder. We reccomend creating your own personal Reddit automations with our Reddit service. It allows you to keep track of your favorite subreddits and share content whereever you want!
Below are two service cards, one for Reddit and one for our RSS Feed service. With IFTTT, you don't need to use an RSS feed. You can connect Reddit with 1000 different services like Email, Slack, and Twitter. Click the Reddit card to get started!
How to enable an Applet
You can also enable any one of thousands or Reddit automations already on IFTTT. We encourage users to check out what the community has already set up because oftentimes your automation idea is already a reality! Keep your eyes peeled for our small Applet cards throughout the article, which you can click on to get started. Enabling Applets requires a free IFTTT account, so make sure to sign up or log in if prompted. Then the steps are as follows:
Make sure the Applet is fit for you. Read the title and description to learn about the process. Additionally, make sure you have an account with all the applications involved or create an account. Then, click the "Connect" bar.
You will then be redirected to log in to those accounts and grant IFTTT access to certain data. IFTTT uses this data to complete your Applet tasks, and your data is never sold or distributed to any third party, ever.
Once you have you granted IFTTT access, the Applet is set up. You can see more details about what Applets you have enabled in the "My Applets" tab, where you can manage and edit tasks as well.

If you like to create your own custom RSS feed, creating one with IFTTT is a straightforward process. With just a few simple steps, you can have a customized feed that keeps you updated on the latest posts from your chosen subreddits. Follow these steps to set up your feed:
Step 1: Set up an IFTTT account
Create an account: Sign up or log in to IFTTT.
Connect services: Connect the services you want to use (e.g., RSS Feed, email, social media, or notifications). This makes it easier to set up an Applet later.
Step 2: Create the IFTTT Applet
Start creating an Applet:
Go to the "Create" section in IFTTT.
Click on "If This" to set the trigger.
Set the Trigger to RSS Feed:
Choose the RSS Feed service.
Select "New Feed Item" as the trigger.
You will then be asked to input an RSS link. Reddit allows you to convert any page URL to an RSS link simply by adding ".rss" at the end of the URL. Add the ".rss" modifier as shown below, and then copy this link.
Now, go back to your Applet setup on IFTTT. Paste the link into the box, and continue.
Step 3: Finish setting up your Applet
Set the Action:
Click on "Then That" to set the action. Select the service where you want the updates to appear, such as: Email: Send the RSS feed item to email subscribers. Slack: Share updates in a finance-related Slack channel. Twitter: Automatically tweet the news for your followers. Push Notifications: Notify users on their mobile devices.
Customize the Action:
For example, if using Twitter, customize the tweet to include the feed title, link, and hashtags (e.g., #Finance, #Investing).
For email, format the subject line and body with the feed details.
Step 4: Test and refine
Trigger the applet manually by checking for new items in the RSS feed. Ensure that the action (e.g., sending an email or posting a tweet) works as intended.
And congratulations, just like that you've set up your first RSS feed Applet with IFTTT.
Best practices for your Reddit RSS feed
Stay organized
With multiple subreddits and topics, it's easy to become overwhelmed. Use folders or tags within your RSS aggregator to categorize feeds and keep everything organized. Group related subreddits together or tag feeds based on themes to quickly locate the content you want to read.
An organized feed not only saves time but also enhances your reading experience by providing a clear structure. Regularly review your categories and tags to ensure they remain relevant and useful.
Regularly review and update
Reddit is a dynamic platform, and your interests may change over time. Regularly review your RSS feed subscriptions and update them as needed to ensure you're receiving content that is relevant and interesting to you. Don't hesitate to add new subreddits or remove ones that no longer align with your interests.
Staying proactive in managing your feed ensures that your content remains fresh and engaging. Make it a habit to periodically assess your subscriptions and make adjustments as necessary.

IFTTT offers a range of additional features and integrations. Experiment with other Applets and services to further automate your Reddit experience, such as receiving notifications for specific keywords or saving posts to a cloud service.
